Plagiarism Policy
Archives of Educational and Behavioral Sciences (AEBS) applies a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and academic dishonesty. We are committed to protecting the integrity of scholarly publishing and to upholding the ethical principles defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
What Counts as Plagiarism?
Plagiarism takes many forms, including but not limited to:
-
Copying text, figures, or data from another source without clear acknowledgment
-
Reusing substantial parts of one’s own previously published work (self-plagiarism) without appropriate citation or cross-referencing
-
Submitting material that paraphrases other works too closely, even if sources are cited
-
Using AI-generated text or images without transparency and proper disclosure
-
Presenting ideas, methods, or results of others as one’s own
Screening Procedures
Every manuscript submitted to AEBS is checked for originality through plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate, Turnitin) before peer review begins.
The editorial office reserves the right to:
-
Reject a manuscript at any stage if plagiarism is confirmed
-
Request clarifications or revisions in cases of minor overlap (e.g., methods sections)
-
Retract an article post-publication if plagiarism is later discovered
Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is confirmed, the following actions may be taken:
-
Immediate rejection of the manuscript
-
Notification of the author’s institution, department, or funding body
-
Retraction of a published article, with an accompanying public statement
-
Restriction on future submissions to AEBS for a set period
Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work. They must:
-
Cite all sources accurately
-
Use quotation marks or block quotes when reproducing text verbatim
-
Acknowledge all third-party materials (e.g., figures, tables, instruments) with proper permissions
-
Clearly state if parts of the manuscript (e.g., data, methods) have been published elsewhere
By submitting to AEBS, authors confirm that their manuscript is original, unpublished elsewhere, and not under review by another journal.
