Editorial and Publishing Process
At Archives of Educational and Behavioral Sciences (AEBS), we prioritize a publishing process that is transparent, fair, and academically rigorous. Each submission follows a structured editorial pathway designed to protect scholarly integrity, ensure ethical compliance, and provide timely communication with authors.
Initial Editorial Screening
Once a manuscript is submitted, the editorial office:
-
Checks compliance with the Author Guidelines and formatting requirements
-
Verifies the inclusion of ethical declarations (e.g., IRB approval, informed consent where applicable)
-
Confirms the fit with the journal’s aims and scope
Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be returned to authors for correction or desk rejected without external review.
Timeline: Typically within 3–7 days of submission
Double-Blind Peer Review
AEBS operates a double-blind peer review system, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
-
Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field
-
Reviewers assess: originality, methodological soundness, contribution to the field, ethical standards, and clarity of presentation
-
In cases of conflicting reports, additional reviewers may be invited
Timeline: Initial decision usually within 4–6 weeks
Editorial Decision
After peer review, the Editor-in-Chief (with input from the handling editor) issues one of the following decisions:
-
Accept
-
Minor revision
-
Major revision
-
Reject
Authors receive:
-
A decision letter summarizing the outcome
-
Anonymous reviewer feedback
-
Clear instructions for revisions when applicable
Timeline for revision: Normally 2–4 weeks, depending on the extent of revisions required
Revised Submission & Final Evaluation
-
Revised manuscripts are checked to ensure that reviewer and editorial feedback has been fully addressed
-
Minor revisions may be reviewed by the handling editor only, while major revisions may require re-review
-
Final acceptance is determined by the Editor-in-Chief
Copyediting and Proofing
Once accepted:
-
Manuscripts undergo professional copyediting for clarity, style, and reference accuracy
-
Authors receive proofs for review and final corrections
-
Major content changes are not permitted at this stage
Timeline: Usually 1–2 weeks from acceptance to proof approval
Online Publication
Finalized articles are:
-
Published online-first, with DOIs assigned via Crossref
-
Added to the relevant issue archive
-
Made fully accessible as open access content
Indexing and Archiving
All published articles are:
-
Assigned DOIs for permanent identification
-
Preserved through LOCKSS/PKP PN archiving for long-term availability
-
Shared with indexing databases as soon as eligibility requirements are met
Ethical Oversight
AEBS adheres to the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
-
Allegations of plagiarism, duplicate submission, or research misconduct are investigated using COPE procedures
-
Authors, reviewers, and editors are all expected to uphold the highest ethical standards at every stage of the publishing process
