Ethics and Malpractice
Archives of Educational and Behavioral Sciences (AEBS) is committed to the highest standards of ethical publishing and academic integrity. The journal adheres to the principles and Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
All parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher—are expected to uphold honesty, transparency, and responsibility in scholarly communication.
Duties of Authors
Authors submitting to AEBS are required to ensure that:
-
All submissions are original work, free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or data fabrication.
-
All listed co-authors have made a substantial contribution to the work and approve the final version.
-
Funding sources and potential conflicts of interest are fully disclosed.
-
For studies involving human participants, appropriate ethical approvals and informed consent are obtained and clearly reported.
-
Authors follow relevant reporting guidelines (e.g., PRISMA for reviews, APA standards for psychological research, SRQR for qualitative studies) as recommended by the EQUATOR Network.
Submissions violating ethical principles may be rejected prior to review or formally retracted if published.
Duties of Editors
Editors of AEBS are responsible for:
-
Ensuring that peer review is fair, impartial, and timely.
-
Protecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
-
Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, authorship disputes, or data falsification.
-
Making editorial decisions solely on the basis of academic merit, relevance, and ethical standards, independent of commercial or institutional influence.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
-
Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback to authors.
-
Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
-
Disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their judgment.
-
Inform the editors if they suspect ethical concerns such as plagiarism or data manipulation.
Misconduct Handling
AEBS takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. Cases of plagiarism, duplicate publication, authorship manipulation, or falsification are investigated according to COPE flowcharts. Possible actions include:
-
Rejection of the manuscript
-
Retraction of a published article
-
Notification of authors and their institutions
-
Restriction of future submissions
Retraction and Correction Policy
AEBS follows international standards for corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions. Retractions are issued in cases of proven academic misconduct or major errors that invalidate a study’s findings. Retraction notices remain publicly available and are linked to the original article.
Research Ethics
All research involving human participants must comply with internationally recognized ethical principles (e.g., the Declaration of Helsinki). Ethical approval from an institutional review board and informed consent from participants must be documented where applicable. Studies involving vulnerable populations (e.g., children, clinical groups) must follow additional safeguards to ensure participant well-being.
